Our Story

“Facciamo un giro” or “Shall we take a walk and look around?” is a typical question friend asked in Italy when they get together at the Piazza after dinner. This was our inspiration when we created Via Italia, a touch of Italy, in the heart of Budapest.

Take it easy, no rush, just great company, great food, and fantastic wine on the dinner tables. Spring to Fall, open-air terraces create a Mediterranean-style island, packed with “Vespas” and olive trees, a true “Dolce far Niente” experience.
Via Italia, a unique experience spreading across a few blocks in downtown Budapest, with a busy and diverse series of venues comprising Trattoria Pomo D’oro, D.O.C. Vino Bar, Gatronomia Pomo D’oro, Gelateria Pomo D’oro, and Casa Pomo D’oro.

Trattoria Pomo D’oro

The flagship venue of Via Italia is Trattoria Pomo D’oro. The first restaurant opened in the area 17 years ago, consistently offering authentic and traditional Italian cuisine.

The restaurant is run by Chef Rosario Simeoli, who is famous for his innovative style, fresh and high-quality ingredients, and exclusive chef technology. A standard menu plus monthly seasonal offers cover the culinary art of 20 Italian regions from Piemont to Sicily.

Our wine list is unique in Hungary and a perfect complement for a special dining experience.

Pick your favorite for home, or to enjoy at the wine bar, coupled with cheese, ham, or pate plates from Pomo D’oro. L’Italia in Bottiglia!

Casa Pomo D’oro

Casa Pomo D’oro is our newest addition to the Via Italia series of venues. Following Trattoria Pomo D’oro our new mission was to create a multifunctional culinary art venue to offer the high-level art of gastronomy, led by Executive Chef Alessandro Manna. This great new addition to the Budapest restaurant scene is the perfect choice for parties, business dinners, wine tasting events, press conferences, or family programs. It is also home to wine dinners, a cooking school, and private gastronomic courses.

Gastronomia Pomo D’oro

“Ricerca” means constant search. As a result of our constant search for top quality, we have created our Delicatessen. We have searched for the best small producers from Liguria, through Toscany to Puglia, to make a special and evolving product range. We offer fresh-pressed olive oil, home-made ham, cheese, pasta, and pate products, and authentic wines. In the style of Italian Rusticherias, we offer light breakfast, quick antipasti or sandwich lunch options, daily special offers, and our customers can enjoy a nice coffee or a glass of wine while selecting their dinner options from our homemade, fresh and ready-made offers.

Gelateria Pomo D’oro

The real Italian ice cream, gelato, is world-famous, so it’s no wonder that the finest gelateria fearfully preserves their recipes.

In our confectionery, we also take great care of continuous development, the perfection of flavors, and the creation of newer and newer varieties. It’s no different with our cakes, the bucks. Under the guidance of our confectioners, all sweets are made exclusively from fresh ingredients in a daily renewable selection.

Setteveli, cannoli, tiramisu, mille-feuille .., and of course our custom-made cakes, which our guests can order in eight different types.
